To be considered for a role you need to: 

  • have strong sense of integrity, an approachable manner and the ability to empathise.
  • have a non-judgmental and compassionate attitude.
  • have at least 2 years experience working with children, young people and families and hold a minimum Diploma in a welfare related subject.
  • have the ability to work therapeutically with complex children and young people within a trauma informed framework. 
  • have experience in managing challenging behaviours such as verbal aggression, defiance and conduct disorders.
  • be able to positively engage and build rapport with children and young people. 
  • be confident in managing stressful and crisis situations, in a calm and professional manner. 
  • demonstrate positive adult role modelling to the children and young people you work with. 
  • have strong written and report writing skills.
  • be willing to travel to jobs located in and around the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Sydney 
  • be flexible and able to work core hours which include evenings, nights and weekends. 
  • hold a current full driver's licence 
  • have or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check
  • obtain a NSW Criminal History Check
